Thank you for making the
2012

a huge success
All children deserve shelter and love. Yet, each year in Nashville, nearly 2,000 children are abused, neglected or abandoned by their own families. Removed from their homes and placed in foster care or institutions, they eventually end up in court where a judge decides their fate. Help CASA's unpaid Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers find safe and permanent homes for Nashville's children.

Red Shoes and cocktail attire
We enjoyed dancing to Gino Speight and Tight Noise
dinner by Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Bud's Liquors and Wines Best Brands Incorporated Yazoo Brewing Company and An Extraordinary Experience by Stephen E Jones bartenders.
Thank you so much for supporting abused and neglected children here in Nashville.

The theme of the red shoes symbolizes Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz clicking her heels together while saying "there's no place like home" because that is CASA's mission to train community volunteers Court Appointed Special Advocates to help find safe, permanent homes for abused and neglected children here in Nashville!

Ten Thousand Villages partner with CASA
Sunday, May 20 noon-5:00 PM. Come shop on that day and a percentage of your purchases will be donated to CASA.
Ten Thousand Villages provides vital, fair income to
people in developing countries by marketing their
handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. We
work with artisans who would otherwise be unemployed
or underemployed. This income helps pay for food,
education, health care and housing.
As you are buying gifts and personal accessories for
yourself or others, please consider the following
questions:
Who is benefiting from the money you are spending? Is a needy family being fed?
Was child labor used in the production of the gift or were the workers adults who were
provided a safe and clean workshop? Was the environment harmed in the manufacture
of the product or were “green practices” employed from raw material stage through
delivery? And perhaps most importantly, was the producer paid a fair wage for her
work? Is she able to support herself and her family?
Our artisans use the money they earn to improve their homes,
educate themselves and their children, and to put food on the
table - allowing them to live healthier lives of dignity. The
majority of our producers are women, who collectively
improve the economic environment of their communities and
nations through their work. As a fair trade retailer, we are able
to curb environmental destruction by supporting hand production,
encouraging the sustainable use of natural resources, marketing
products made from recycled materials, favoring organic methods
of agriculture and limiting transport that contributes to high carbon
emissions. Our artisans earn a fair wage for their work - a wage
that they are a partner in determining.
You can feel really good about gifts purchased from Ten Thousand Villages.

6th Annual ACC vs. SEC Alumni Golf Tournament
Monday, October 8, 2012
(Columbus Day)
The annual ACC vs. SEC Alumni Golf Tournament pits alumni, friends and family representing ACC and SEC schools in a fun and competitive challenge, but you don’t have to be an alum or even a great golfer to play. There is something for everyone: a conference championship, team winners, individual prizes, a silent auction, a Louisiana shrimp boil dinner and even a bourbon tasting from Buffalo Trace. Players and sponsors are invited to join in the fun for this event each year.

"A CHILD'S VOICE IN COURT"
CASA provides trained community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who come to the attention of the court primarily as a result of abuse or neglect.
Last Year in Nashville, over 2000 children were caught up in the court because they were abused, neglected or abandoned by those they loved and trusted the most.
Fortunately, there is an organization that puts these children first. It's called CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. Staffed almost entirely by non-paid volunteers, CASA can make a real difference in the lives of children at risk.
CASA's mission is to expedite the process through which these abused and neglected children find permanent, safe homes.
